Mary Wanser recently earned her master of fine arts degree in creative writing at the University of Tampa and completed her first collection of personal essays, a mosaic memoir entitled Things I Wasn’t Supposed to Say. Her next project is pointing toward the self-help genre. A Long Island native, Mary now lives where two rivers meet in Bradenton, Florida as a freelance editor and private English tutor. She is an AWP member.
Mary began writing personal essays as an assignment during her graduate studies. The outlet proved an effective tool for emotional uncovery and recovery from her taboo history. Ever brave, she continues allowing her pen to expose vulnerable truths about her life experiences in “Enchained,” the non-traditionally formatted essay in My Other Ex.
